Professional standards applicable to the practice of the profession

Article 1.2 of the General Statute of the Spanish Advocacy establishes that in the professional practice, the Lawyer is subject to the legal and statutory regulations, to the faithful fulfilment of the norms and uses of the professional ethics of the Advocacy and to the consequent collegial disciplinary regime.

For its part, the Code of Ethics approved by the General Council of Spanish Law, establishes in its article 1.1 that:

"The lawyer is obliged to respect the ethical and deontological principles of the profession established in the Code of Ethics approved by the Council of Lawyer Associations of Europe (CCBE) on November 28, 1998, in this Code of Ethics approved by the General Council of the Spanish Advocacy, in which the Autonomy Council of Colleges has been approved, and those of the specific College to which it is incorporated".
