A woman with breast cancer loses a compensation of 135,000 euros from an insurance policy for concealing relevant information about her health when she took out the policy.

On 6 June 2011, this woman took out a life and disability insurance policy with a sum insured of 135,000 euros. On 21 June 2011 she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

The woman claimed 135,000 euros from the insurer. The court in Almendralejo, Spain, did not agree with the woman because when she took out the insurance she had already had a biopsy for a possible breast cancer and was awaiting the result and did not say anything. The woman appealed against the judgement and the woman was given the right. But the insurer took it to the Spanish Supreme Court, which agreed with the insurer because the woman did not tell the truth in the insurance contract questionnaire. Read more.
