The court in A Coruña (Spain) has acquitted a father accused of shouting at his 13-year-old daughter and telling her that all she does is use her mobile phone.
The girl's parents are divorced and it all happened when the girl was with her father and younger sister at her grandparents' house.
The girl did not want to listen to her father when he told her she had to leave the house. She continued with the phone. The father grabbed her by the arms and lifted her out of bed. The girl screamed and insulted the father.
When the mother went to pick up the girls, she took her daughter to the health centre because her right arm was red and filed a complaint.
In the sentence, the judge says that parents can scold their children, and that the children have an obligation to obey and respect them. Read more
