The Government signed this Monday with employers and unions the agreement to extend until June 30 the ERTE due to force majeure by the Covid-19, which maintains the general prohibition of dismissal until 6 months after the end of the file, although not totally. It does not close the door to fire when an ERTE returns, as the CEOE had demanded.

It also maintains and improves exemptions from the payment of social security contributions by workers, which will be greater for returning workers than for those who remain temporarily unemployed.
Thus, companies with less than 50 employees will have an 85% exemption on the contributions corresponding to May for workers leaving the ERTE and 70% in June. The exemption will be lower for workers who remain unemployed: 60% in May and 45% in June.
For larger companies with more than 50 workers, the exemption for employees who return to work will be 60% and 45% in May and June. For those who remain at home, it will be 45% in May and 30% in June. Read more
