Tampering with the time sheet can lead to immediate job loss, especially if it is intended to hide misconduct. This is demonstrated by a recent ruling from Burgos, which has upheld the dismissal of an employee for systematically falsifying activity reports and consuming alcoholic beverages during the working day.

Specifically, the employee, who was a full-time masonry officer, was caught in several leisure premises despite having stated, in writing, that he was carrying out maintenance work on a building. The judgment considers that this conduct is a breach of good faith in the contract that is serious enough to justify the disciplinary dismissal.

As the ruling reflects, the company had been receiving complaints for months from customers who were dissatisfied with the mason, who they even accused of provoking incidents and of "not being able to carry out his tasks". Based on this information, the company decided to hire the services of a private detective on June 3, 2019, in order to verify whether any type of irregularity was indeed taking place.
