The sale and purchase of homes in the Canary Islands increased by 176.9% in May compared to the same month last year, with a total of 1,830 transactions.

The sale and purchase of dwellings has now reached three consecutive months of positive rates, following increases of 32.4% and 65.9% recorded in March and April, respectively.

Last May, the highest number of property sales per 100,000 inhabitants occurred in Comunidad Valenciana (166), Murcia (153) and Aragón (146).

In absolute terms, Andalusia was the region with the highest number of property transactions during the fifth month of the year, with 9,684 sales, followed by Catalonia (7,614), Valencia (6,675) and Madrid (6,474).

All the Autonomous Communities presented positive annual rates in May in the number of property sales and purchases. The largest increases were in Murcia (+206.5%), the Canary Islands (+176.9%), La Rioja (+147.2%) and Extremadura (+146.3%), while the smallest increases were in the Balearic Islands (+61.6%) and the Basque Country (+68.5%). Read more.
