This solution, which is not as frequent as weekly or fortnightly joint custody, has been considered by several Spanish courts as a good solution when the parents are very much at odds.
In its judgment of 22 July 2011, the Spanish Supreme Court considered that the relations between the spouses are not important in determining the shared custody regime, unless the confrontation is detrimental to the child.
If it is advised by psychologists and the opinion of the children is taken into account, it can be beneficial for their stability, as they do not have to constantly change residence, although a visiting and holiday regime must be established with the parent who does not have custody that year.
