The Provincial Court of Pontevedra sentenced a bank to pay 4,000 euros to a customer, which were stolen from her bank account.
The customer was tricked into sharing confidential information such as passwords and credit card numbers (a technique known as phishing).
The lawsuit was dismissed, the judge decided that the client had acted negligently. However, the Provincial Court of Pontevedra declared the bank liable and ordered it to pay the amount, because it did not comply with its duties to authenticate the payment transactions. Read more.
