The Association of Financial Users (Asufin) does not see it very clearly, especially from the point of view of competition. They say that the hypothetical merger "involves a major movement of banking concentration that is worrying and limits competition" and that "it generates institutions that are too big to fail, which always represents a risk for the customer".
According to the organisation, both entities have a high level of litigation for the marketing of mortgages and other financial products with abusive clauses that have been declared null and void in the courts, such as the multi-currency clause, in the case of CaixaBank, due to the absorption of a large part of the savings bank group, or the floor clause, in the case of Bankia.
